Your Supplements Should Not Come From Amazon. Here Is Where to Get Them.
Almost every blog I write ends with a recommendation, and almost every time, the first email I get back asks the same thing: which brand, and where do I buy it?
Until now, my answer has been scattered across a dozen posts and a lot of office visits. So I built two stores, and I want to explain why there are two of them, because the line between them is deliberate.
Anything you swallow comes from my Fullscript store. Everything else, the RO water filter, the nasal spray, the glass containers, comes from my Amazon store. That rule matters more than it sounds.
The Problem With Buying Supplements on Amazon
Supplements are not approved by the FDA before they go on sale. The label is the manufacturer's word, and nobody checks it before the bottle reaches you.
In 2022, researchers published a study in JAMA Network Open in which they bought the 30 featured immune-support supplements on Amazon and tested what was actually in them. Seventeen of the thirty had inaccurate labels. Thirteen listed ingredients the lab could not find at all. Nine contained things that were not on the label. Three products sold as elderberry contained black rice instead. And these were bought after Amazon tightened its own rules and began requiring sellers to submit lab testing for supplements.
The problem is not that Amazon is a bad company. It is that Amazon is a marketplace. The same product page can be filled by different sellers, and you have no way of knowing whose bottle arrives at your door, how old it is, or whether it spent a week in a truck in July. Fish oil oxidizes. Probiotics die in heat. Vitamins lose potency. You cannot see any of that by looking at a capsule.
A thermometer either reads your temperature or it does not. You know within a minute. A supplement can be wrong for years and you will never find out.
The Fullscript Store
Fullscript is a professional dispensary used by physicians across the country. You cannot simply walk in. You need an invitation from a practitioner to open an account.
Fullscript buys directly from the manufacturers, never from third-party sellers, and ships from climate-controlled warehouses straight to your door. What you order is what the manufacturer made, stored the way it is supposed to be stored.
My store holds the supplements I actually recommend, including the viral-season supplements from my COVID wave post: vitamin D, zinc, vitamin C, and quercetin. You can set up autoship so you never run out halfway through a season.
The Amazon Store
For everything that is not a supplement, Amazon is the most convenient way to get the right product to your house quickly. My storefront is organized into lists that match what I write about.
The Sick Season list has the three things I want in every house before you need them: a COVID and flu combination test, a thermometer, and a pulse oximeter. It also has the EPOTHEX iota-carrageenan nasal spray, which is hard to find anywhere else.
The Lower Your Plastic Load list has the swaps I recommend for getting plastic out of your kitchen, starting with the AquaTru countertop reverse osmosis filter, the one I use to keep plastic out of my own drinking water.
You will not find a single supplement in my Amazon store.
What I Recommend
First, stop buying supplements on Amazon. You do not need to throw out what you have. Switch at your next refill.
Second, if you buy supplements anywhere other than a physician's dispensary, look for a third-party seal such as USP or NSF on the label. It is not a guarantee, but it means someone other than the manufacturer has checked.
Third, stock the sick-season kit now, while you are well. The pulse oximeter is the one tool that catches what you cannot feel.
Fourth, if you are my patient, bring your supplement bottles to your next visit. We will go through them together, keep what is working, and drop what is not.
Fifth, if there is something I have recommended that you cannot find in either store, tell me, and I will add it.
The Bottom Line
Two stores, one rule: anything you swallow comes from Fullscript, where it comes straight from the manufacturer. Everything else comes from Amazon. You have done the work of deciding to take care of yourself. Make sure what you are taking is what the label says.
Which supplements are you taking right now, and where do you buy them? Leave a comment below. I would like to know.
To your good health,

As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases, and I also earn from purchases made through my Fullscript store.

I just cancelled on my subscriptions on Amazon and switched to the full script store. It seems the manufacturers you trust are Pure Encapsulations and Life Extension. The supplements I take are: Boron, K2, Iodine, Fish oil, Folate, B12, and Calcium with vitamin D. Some other members of my family (also your patients) also take these. I was able to get all of the supplements on full script except the calcium. I switched instead (on Amazon) to the Pure encapsulations brand (the same manufacturer for the iodine). Could you please add calcium to your list?
